Food and wine pairing - do it right and have a great meal
Food and wine pairing used to be something only the rich and noble people
knew about, but not anymore. New days have come, and nowadays many people who
know nothing about wine a few years ago, are now "in the know". Buy with all
this wonderful upgrade in people's ambition for fuller life, came also confusion
about the whole subject. Food and wine pairings are one of the main area of
confusion, and I will shed some light on the subject in this article.
Food and wine paring basic rules were set years ago by those who were then in
the know. Most of the basic rules still apply today, and here are the most basic
concepts: Champagne is served before the meal, or as dessert. Dry wine is served
before sweet wine. White wine is served with: sea food, fish, cold meat, pasta,
fish cooked in delicate sauce, poultry. Red wine is served with: red meat, heavy
or fat meat, gain meat, fish cooked in heavy sauce, cheeses.
These classic food and wine paring rules were bent in the last years. This
slow change has two main reasons: first, a large verity of new food as well as
"fusion" tendency between cuisines. the second reason is the huge verity of
wines of all sorts that swept the world in the last years. The best thing you
can do it experiment, and find the wine the most suites you with the food you
like to eat.
